Mr. Dawntreader had a wonderful time meeting and interacting with The Trinity Fellows in Charlottesville, VA this past Thursday.
I had the privilege of presenting a session entitled Classical Apologetics. We covered the basics of the classical approach, discussed strengths and weaknesses, looked at one approach used by RC Sproul, and then had a time of Q+A. The fellows asked thoughtful questions and showed that they are sharp thinkers and winsome ambassadors for King Jesus. I can't wait to see how God will use each of them to push back the darkness and change the world for the cause of Christ and the glory of God.
Mr. Dawntreader,
So nice to have you in class...it was truly a blessing! Hopefully we can keep in touch more in the future.
Part of me has always wanted to be an apologetic; I've always placed a great emphasis on logic in my life (finally replaced my own for Christ's!).
But one question -- what would you do in my position? I know this is a very general, open-ended question...but if I wanted to go down that road, where to start? Reading books and gathering information? Talking with people (most of my friends are atheist, so that's covered)? Just get in situations where defending your faith becomes necessary?
Any recommendations in books? I would appreciate any input -- I know I left a lot of questions, and you can answer them succinctly if need be. Hope all is well!

Hey Clark!
If I were you, I would look for others to mentor you -- which is exactly what you are doing by contacting me. Great first step!
I am always looking to help others on their path, so I am glad you asked.
The first book you need to read is displayed over on the right side of my blog : "Love Your God With All Your Mind: The Role of Reason in the Life of the Soul", by Dr. JP Moreland. Buy it today and start reading it, and bring your highlighter. It is chock full of practical advice. It is the perfect place to begin your journey as an apologist for the cause of Christ.
Continue to live faithfully in front of your friends, and don't be afraid to challenge their thinking by asking thoughtful questions, and be gracious when they ask questions. All truth is God's truth -- there is nothing to fear. The best apologetic is always your life -- but don't let that be an excuse to not develop your thinking to the fullest, for that is what we are all called to do.
You and I will definitely stay in touch. Hang around the Dawn Treader for a while and help me take a stand for truth. As you engage others in your sphere, fire me questions without hesitating. I stand ready to help or point you to where you can get help.

Thanks, I did.
Thanks for adding me to the google groups discussion. Should be some interesting reading (when I get the time!)
By the way, check out the new blog I migrated to this week. It's rudimentary, but it should get going soon when I get the time. :)
