I found this editorial in a campus newspaper.  The college was Westmont College.  Westmont College is a Christian college located near Santa Barbara, California.  The editorial was written by a female student.

It is called: Practically Ever After: Arranged marriages are the way to go

The whole piece is written tongue-in-cheek ... and meant to be funny.  But beneath the surface, arranged marriages do have some appeal.  A large part of the world still maintains this practice, and as far as statistics go, their divorce rates appear to be much lower than "love" marriages.  It got me thinking about the whole topic of marriage.  Is it truly all about love?

Anyway, here is her editorial.

If you are a parent, you know the feeling.  I like the look on Mrs. Roberts' face as little man Roberts breaks free and dances in front of the presidential podium.   Mrs. Roberts appears totally calm and collected.  I wonder what a transcript of her thoughts would read like.

We once did an advent reading in front of the church with all four of our childen with us ... one was a baby and one was a toddler at the time.  It was an adventure, and brings a smile as I think back on it.  I know a little of what the Roberts might have been thinking.  Of course, my wife and I did not have an audience of 60 million viewers, and we were not standing next to the presidential podium at the time.

The fam is headed to the lake for a week.  I hope to teach my children the fine art of bass fishing.  If it turns out like when I was a kid, I am sure I will spend most of my time untangling lines ;-)

Happy fourth!

We enjoyed a wonderful dinner and evening of conversation with some new friends last night.  We were invited over to their home to eat.  They live in a rustic old home tucked away in the gorgeous part of Virginia called Bent Mountain.

As we gathered to eat, we encircled the table and held hands for prayer.  Between our four kids and their four kids, we made a huge circle.  Before praying, Mr. Webb looked at each of us with a warm expression, and said "May the Lord be with you."  To which all the members of his family replied in union, "And also with you."
