I had the pleasure of meeting Brian the Worldview Warrior this past weekend. Brian is a follower of Christ, a "transplanted-into-Virginia" Virginian, a software engineer, a blogger, a Calvinist, a PCA'er, a second-year Centurion, a 24 enthusiast, and an alumni of Virginia Tech. Our differences appear to be mostly limited to our loyalties to different college basketball programs. Brian does not share my enthusiasm for Duke Blue Devil basketball. Other than, we have a tremendous amount in common.
It is nice to converse with a fellow blogger. Non-bloggers (is there an official blogospheric term for non-blogger?) do not understand why blogging exists. They don't get it. Brian gets it. It was refreshing to talk to him. It is kind of a weird experience to meet someone in person for the first time who already knows quite a bit about what and how you think (from reading your blog). Perhaps other bloggers have experienced this odd feeling. Weird, but fun.
We had a great conversation about our respective experiences in the Centurions program. He has some great ideas for how to leverage technology for the furtherance of worldview teaching. I am excited about some of the technological infrastructure Brian wants to create to enable others to develop and distribute materials to help people understand worldviews and why they matter.
Brian is setting up a group blog project. He invited me and my wife to blog together at the new blog (which is still being designed as we speak). I hope to get Mrs. Dawn Treader more excited about blogging. The main problem for her is a serious lack of available time to sit in front of a computer. She is a great thinker and passionate about truth and the integration of faith into all of life, so I hope she can find a way to contribute a post once in a while.
Brian, I will try to get a hold of so I can be more conversant with my culture. We also need to see if we can anyone else interested in watching 24 episodes of 24 in 24 hours. Perhaps we could live blog it … though it would be hard to stop watching long enough to post any content. :-)
Other bloggers that I may meet some day in person: Tennesseans Tgirsch and Kevin, Virginian Daddypundit, Marylander David, Pennsylvanian David, Tennesean Sozo and Tennessean Gid. I am in these states regularly.
These are long shots, but hopefully I'll meet these bloggers in person one day: Serge (somewhere in the midwest), BK (New Mexico), Murdock (LA I think), Macht (no clue where he lives), Joel (Canada), Phil (Arizona), Hugh (LA), Tim (no clue where he lives), David (way up in the cold northeast) and Joe (Chicago-land I believe). There are more of you I want to meet ... I am just getting linked out at the moment.
Maybe if I went to GodBlogCon I would increase my chances of meeting these interesting folks (except for maybe tgirsch and kevin ;-).
Jeff,
Maybe tgirsh and kevin would be there doing some recon?
I thoroughly enjoyed this past weekend. God was at work and has been preparing the way for us to meet.
Look forward to having Mr. and Mrs. Dawn Treader on the group blog!
Soli Deo Gloria,
Brian

"Maybe tgirsh and kevin would be there doing some recon"
Yes, we are going undercover. Ask the potted plants if the water is nice. The ones that say yes are tgirsch and me in disguise ;)
And neither of us are actually from TN.

"and kevin is a ???????????"
Nothing, really. My dad was in the service, so we lived in a lot of places. The list, as best as I can reconstruct it:
Galveston, Texas
Some place on the great lakes in NY
St. Louis.
Petaluma CA (north of San Fran)
Various areas in and around Hartford CT, with summers in NYC with my dad.
South Jersey (south of AC)
In and around Gary IN
Memphis
