I was tagged by The Weekend Fisher for the "Seven by Seven" meme.
I'll be honest. I have never done one of the these tagged thingies. I thought they were ... well, goofy. You know what? They are goofy. But occasional goofy is okay. :-) It promotes community. It reveals a little of your humanity. It helps you not take yourself too seriously, if you know what I mean.
In that spirit, here goes.
Seven things to do before I die
1. Publish a book
2. See the fall colors in New England firsthand.
3. See New Zealand firsthand.
4. Read the Chronicles of Narnia to my grandchildren.
5. See each of my children marry someone who follows Christ faithfully.
6. Dance with both of my daughters at their weddings.
7. Cultivate a heart of wisdom in each of my children and grandchildren.
Seven things I cannot do

Seven things that attract me to (...)
... attract me to blogging...
1. I like the concept of journaling, and I consider blogging to be public journaling.
2. You encounter people who think like you do.
3. You encounter people who don't think at all like you do.
4. People from around the world show up at your doorstep ready to talk.
5. You can test out ideas and get almost instant feedback, assuming people actually read your blog.
6. It gives you practice at "writing small" (a concept taught to me by T.M. Moore)
7. You can influence ideas, and ideas beget actions.
Seven things I say most often
1. Rut ro.
2. LOL.
3. :-)
4. Golden.
5. Beautimous.
6. Boo-yah.

2. Braveheart.
3. Dances With Wolves.
4. The Sixth Sense.
5. Its a Wonderful Life.
6. "24" Series (any season).
7. Saving Private Ryan.
Seven people I want to join in, too.
( If you guys don't participate, I won't be offended in the slightest. As I said before, this is the first one I have ever participated in. )
1. David
2. Joel
3. Gid
4. Brian
5. Tgirsch
6. David
7. Brian
Here is the official meme.

I don't think 24 would count as a movie :) I would not have figured you for a Dances with Wolves fan -- it certainly isn't like the other movies on the list.
And, seriously, Oracle books??? I am getting you a pocket protector for Xmas .. :)

The meme is posted on Worldview Warrior.

I second Molly's cry for 24 in 24 hours. We gotta plan that one. How does February look for you, Jeff?
Any chance we could get a big group and do it at a venue in Roanoke?

Dude, I have never met you, but I bet you have black thick rimmed glasses!! (LOL)
I appreciate you blog. It is a good model for how I want mine to be. C.S. Lewis rocks and I can not wait to see his movie. I can only hope it does justice to the book.

"Dude, you really are a computer geek! :-)"
True statement. :-) I really like those Orange books. When I go to Borders or Barnes and Noble, I hang out in the tech books section.
"Are we ever going to do that 24 in 24hrs Gig?"
Yes. How about the second Saturday in February? (I think the Super Bowl happens the first weekend in February).
"I would not have figured you for a Dances with Wolves fan"
Why not?
"I am getting you a pocket protector for Xmas .. :)"
Dude, forget the pocket protector, how about this instead :

"but I bet you have black thick rimmed glasses!! (LOL)"
Naw, I may be a geek, but I don't look like a dork ;-)

a geek? NO, indeed NOT- how about HIGHLY INTELLIGENT?
I HAVE seen you and I agree, you DO NOT look like a dork! In fact, you are rather handsome and you married a real DOLL! now, that was the greatest achievement of all!
I enjoyed reading all of your lists and was not surprised by anything on them. Call me when you want to watch "Dances with Wolves" again, I'll bring the popcorn!

""I would not have figured you for a Dances with Wolves fan"
Why not?"
Couple of reasons. It has a bit of the notion that Native American culture is superior to Western culture in it, which would include the decidely non-Christian native american worldview. You place a great deal of stock in that, and I would have thought that would have turned you off.
It is also a fairly languid movie, and based on shows/movies/books you have talked about here, I wouldn't have thought languid would describe your movie taste. :)
As for the book, I don't know whats worse - -you asking for it or me wanting it wehen i looke dit up :)

Mine's up.

"It is also a fairly languid movie"
languid
1. Lacking energy or vitality; weak: a languid wave of the hand.
2. Showing little or no spirit or animation; listless: a languid mood.
3. Lacking vigor or force; slow: languid breezes.
It was not that slow of a movie ... a little long maybe. I don't necessarily have to agree with the worldview of the movie writer to enjoy a movie. I find aspects of truth in many movies that I disagree with. Dances With Wolves did present the in-vogue view that 99% of white men in the old West were either drunks, sadists or both ... especially the soldiers. It did present a utopian view of the Indians. Both views are projections of today's writers ... I get that.
I still enjoyed watching Lt. John Dunbar reach across cultural barriers. I thought Mary McDonnell gave a great performance as Stands With A Fist.
There were some memorable scenes ... like the Tetonka scenes ... when the buffalo herd returns.

I make amends!! Just having a little bit of fun at your expense, now you can at mine please!!
I appreciate your blog. Starting out on the premise of C.S. Lewis tells me you are a man of deep thought and direction.

Second weekend in February looks great for me. Let's do the Third Season in 24 hours. Or we could rewatch the First Season.
Let me know when the plan firms up.

"It was not that slow of a movie"
I disagree. I thought it dragged on interminably, and it made its points with a sledgehammer. I really didn't like it :)
" when the buffalo herd returns."
Yes, that was well done.

I thought it dragged on interminably, and it made its points with a sledgehammer.Dude, it's a Kevin Costner movie! What did you expect, Citizen Kane?
