It is official.
Roanoke County Board of Supervisors proclaim
J.J. Redick Day
April 19, 2006
There will be a dinner at the Hotel Roanoke to recognize Roanoke's most famous citizen. Unfortunately, Mr. Dawntreader could not afford one of the tickets at the 900 seat dinner. Now how am I going to get J.J. to autograph my Duke basketball for my sons?
Any idears?
That is easy. Just hang out at the hotel lobby. I am a pro at getting autographs.
If you took your sons with you it would help. Go buy a couple nice basketballs and get him to sign them with a good marker that won't fade.

They originally wanted the 18th to be the date, but some LSU players blocked it. :)

Make sure you check on the value of basketballs signed by Johnny Dawkins, Bobby Hurley, Laettner, and the like before you drop coin on a new ball and wait for JJ to ink it!

Ok, get in those shots while I am down and hurting ;)
I think you are right that J.J. probably won't amount to much a star in the NBA. He could prove me wrong, of course, but I think he will be the latest in a long line of Duke alums that had mediocre NBA careers.
Duke sure puts out the college coaches though, eh? Look at all of K's protegees in the college ranks. That has got to count for something :)

OK...I'm reading, reading, enjoying, blog-lining...then I read this. I'm not sure I'm allowed to read blogs of Duke fans.
Seriously, I do admire Coach K (can I admit that as a Tar-heel fan?)and his overall coaching philosophy. (Except that "beat Carolina" part!)

An alumnus should be allowed to cheer for his own school -- even if it is Duke, right? ;)
